Diarist.Net is the byproduct of zealous diary fandom and a temporary bout of domainia (frantic consumption of domain names). It was set up only to house The Diary Registry and The Diary List pages (which is why they don't look like the rest of the site), but the greater possibilities realized and suggested since have been enticing. Here are the departments presently in need of a few good geeks.

Diarist.Net News

We need journalers with a knack for newspaper-style writing and an addiction to the whole of the infamous "journaling community" to write news briefs and short articles about the comings and goings of web diarists. Reporters must regularly read mailing lists and forums where journalers interact and gossip, but also keep their browsing eyes open to significant developments in lesser-known escribitionist circles. Writing skills and objectivity are a must.

Diarist Awards

Diarist.Net proudly hosts The Diarist Awards, one of the most prominent and longest-running (if not also controversial) web awards programs for online diaries, journals, and personal weblogs. With awards in several site and entry categories given every three months, and in the hopes of representing a diverse array of interests and preferences, we always need new volunteers to serve on the "Finalist Selection Panel" each quarter. If you've the time to carefully visit and evaluate each of the up to 300 nominees, and if you've written an online diary for at least six months (or have 48 total entries accumulated), please drop us a line.

ReEntry Columnists

One of our oldest and more popular weekly features is ReEntry, in which journalers get to link and write about their favorite individual entries in other web journals. Share your favorite sites and tell their authors and Diarist.Net readers alike what makes their writing extraordinary. While there used to be a waiting list to contribute, now ReEntry pieces sometimes linger for weeks. To submit a column, request a submission guide via e-mail.

Registry Link Wranglers

With over 4,000 sites listed, the Diary Registry is inevitably filled with outdated, broken, or simply absurd links. Every few months, Link Wranglers are given a "chunk" of the database of about 500 sites to verify and — if neccessary — update or delete. It's a time-consuming but simple task, and additionally a good way to find a lot of great sites you might otherwise not have ever visited. In addition to a listing on the Staff page, Link Wranglers benefit from having an ad for their site inserted into the banner rotation for the rest of Diarist.Net.

Diarist.Net Links

Volunteers are needed to regularly check and update the individual Link Collections. Link collection managers must be voracious web surfers, and keep on the lookout for other sites that would fit their respective collection, as well as others. Each collection's manager would be credited and linked on the page. To apply for one of these positions, e-mail us the name of the collection you with to manage, along with a sample link addition/update and a short write up.
