- Subscribing to DIARY-L:
Send a message to listproc@hawaii.edu with the following text in the message body (the subject can be left blank):
SUBSCRIBE DIARY-L YourFirstName YourLastName
You don't need to use your real name — aliases are okay — but something needs to come after the list name. Some identifying text is recommended, in case you have trouble with your subscription later and we need to find your account.
- Unsubscribing from DIARY-L:
Send a message to listproc@hawaii.edu with the following text in the message body (the subject can be left blank):
UNSUBSCRIBE DIARY-L
Note that with this command, nothing comes after the list name. Including your name will generate an error message.
- Switching to DIGEST mode:
DIGEST mode compiles several DIARY-L messages into collections of a dozen or so. This can help keep your mailbox from filling up, although replying to messages requires more care.

SET DIARY-L MAIL DIGEST
- Switching back to normal mode:
You can switch from DIGEST mode to receive each DIARY-L message individually.

- Postponing your subscription:
You can temporarily suspend delivery of DIARY-L messages for vacations or other time away from e-mail.
Send a message to listproc@hawaii.edu with the following text in the message body (the subject can be left blank):
SET DIARY-L MAIL POSTPONE
- Resuming your subscription:
You can resume your postponed subscription to DIARY-L.

SET DIARY-L MAIL ACK
- Accessing archives:
All DIARY-L messages are archived by month. Careful, each file is huge. The procedure is a little complex — please refer to the standard help file.
