Recently Yahoo! swallowed up Webring.Org, turning the popular site-linking service into part of its empire (http://webring.yahoo.com.
Now to run a ring, each member must sign up for a Yahoo! ID (hello, blizzard of spam!) and use a code on their site that will pull the navigation bar from Yahoo! (meaning they could conceivably slip in ads someday). Of course, some folks like the Yahoo! Everything concept, and they sure have fast servers...
But for those who are looking for an alternative, Diarist.Net is proud to introduce Diarist.Net Ringlink:
http://diarist.net/ringlink
If you liked Webring, I think you'll transition easily. The underlying script (Ringlink) works in a very similar manner, the only real difference being you can pick your own site username for various rings (rather than being assigned a number).
Enjoy!
