there are some astounding entries out there that do not fit under dramatic, comedic, or any other entry catagory (imho) that show incredable insight, whether the author's own on him or herself or insight on life. i think these entries deserve their own catagory, "most insightful entry". something to think about maybe?

What about the Outstanding Entry category? Seems to me that you may be trying to re-invent it. Check it out and see if that will help you next time nominations roll around. http://www.diarist.net/active/smile.gif

to me outstanding entry is for the over all most outstanding entry, which does not necessarily mean insightful. outstanding entry can be incredibly funny or sad or romantic or a rant or anything. any entry can be any one (or more) of these without showing an understanding of ourselves, our world or life.

Good call, Shelly. Here it is!
Most Insightful, hmm? Interesting thought. I can see how that general style might not fit under the two categories of Dramatic or Comedic, but I think Outstanding might cover it...
The problem with going beyond those already fairly broad categories is, where do you stop? Most Inspiring Entry? Most Depressing? Most Rambling? Most Controversial? To me that sounds like a nightmare - categorization in general rubs some folks the wrong way, but having even smaller pigeon holes would, I think, only make that problem worse.

while i can see you rpoint (honestly i can http://www.diarist.net/active/wink.gif ) i think you already started the process with best rant. not saying to remove it, but i do think that if you can have a best rant, then most insightful works as well.
anyways, it was just a suggestion http://www.diarist.net/active/wink.gif

i think the categories are just fine myself. outstanding can cover just about any "genre" of entry: comedic, dramatic, poignant, romantic, etc. i'm with ryan here. http://www.diarist.net/active/smile.gif
