Only problem and One Question

Well there was only one problem I had with this quarters Diarist Awards.

I was nominated (well my FRIEND was nominated, hence Best Guest Entry), and I asked about the Nomination graphic.

I hate to say it, but sometimes a big ass graphic might have attracted more people that aren't on Diary-l or don't visit Diarist regularly that the awards are being voted for.

Well, maybe it was just me, I don't know about the other entry finalists, but I never recieved a notice that the graphics for this quarter were done (though I did see graphics for SITE finalists). Maybe next quarter we could get those graphics done a wee bit faster? It might have made a difference in the voting for people's entries, and possibly sites, in general.

Also I got a question about Finalist selection, if you were nominated for an award in the previous quarter, but didn't win, could you be nominated again in the same catagory for the next quarter?

I agree with Corvin.

I remember seeing nomination graphics when the awards first started, but I haven't seen them in the last few rounds. When I was a finalist I never heard anything about them so I assumed they were done away with. I also (perhaps erroneously) felt like it would be bad sportsmanship to say "hey I'm a finalist, go vote for me". A graphic would be a much more subtle way of encouraging your readers to vote. And as a reader, I'd be much more apt to vote if I came across a graphic on one of my daily reads that tells me they are nominated.
